Q: Does Someday require Gemini?

No for importing, reading and standard local narration. A user-provided Gemini key is required for generated formats such as Brief and Conversation.

What exactly is Someday?

Someday is a local-first iPhone app for collecting chosen reading and returning to it in the form that fits. Import articles, PDFs, screenshot text, selected newsletters and bookmarks. Read them in a focused text view or create natural audio to keep offline.

Which imports does Someday support?

The current product supports shared web articles, pasted URLs, local text PDFs from Files, screenshot text recognised on-device, selected Gmail newsletter senders and selective recent Raindrop.io bookmarks. YouTube URLs are deliberately unsupported.

How does Gmail newsletter import work?

You connect Gmail with read-only access, choose the newsletter senders you care about, then import recent messages from those sources. They enter the same Library as other articles; Someday does not create another inbox or a separate newsletter “show.” You can disconnect Gmail in Settings.

Can it import screenshots?

Yes. Choose up to 20 screenshots and Someday uses Apple Vision on your iPhone to recognise their text. The result becomes a normal readable item that can follow the same path to audio.

What does Raindrop.io integration do?

It lets you review recent bookmarks and selectively import the articles you want. Someday treats the connection as read-only and deduplicates URLs already in your library.

Is reading a first-class experience?

Yes. Read is not a staging screen for audio. It is an article-focused unread/read library with meaningful source groups, restored reading progress, support for headings, lists, quotes and code, type controls and optional focus ambience.

How is Listen different from Read?

Listen owns preparation and playback: what is processing, what needs audio, what is ready, what is next and what you have completed. Once audio is generated, it remains stored on the iPhone for offline playback.

What are Brief, Conversation and Night?

The Brief is a short spoken digest of recent saves. Conversation turns one substantial article into a longer two-host exchange. Night is a gentler wind-down mode for sleep-friendly listening. These are deliberate formats for different moments, not generic summaries attached to every item.

Does Someday require a Gemini key?

No for ordinary importing, focused reading, deterministic cleanup and standard on-device article or PDF narration. A user-provided Gemini key is required for generated formats such as Brief and Conversation. The app identifies unavailable key-dependent actions and links to Settings.

Where is audio created and stored?

Someday uses an on-device Kokoro voice model to create local audio files. Sources, extracted text, reading state, narration and generated audio live on the iPhone rather than a Someday-hosted reading-data server.

Does Someday require an account?

No Someday account is required. Optional Gmail, Raindrop.io and Gemini connections are user-configured and can be removed.

Can I listen offline?

Yes. Finished audio is kept in the local Library for offline listening. Importing a new web source needs network access, as does the first download of the on-device voice model.

Is Someday already in the App Store?

Not yet. Someday is an active development build being prepared for release. The site describes the current product direction and implemented experience without promising an App Store date.
